The Great Salt Lake is a severe place. The extreme salinity is due to the geology in the area which contains large amounts of salts, that leach down into this basin area. Extending into the Lake is Antelope Island. It rises up out of the lake and provides a home to a large herd of Buffalo. A lot of wild life exists here, and the island is covered with small natural springs.
