We spent a night in an excellent Rest Area before reaching Panama City. The cats enjoyed walking the grassey space right outside the rig. Took a great drone shot of the stop.
We initially headed to the Navy Base right in Panama City, only to find out my VA Card type would not provide access to the base. A quick phone call and we were able to get a spot at the Tyndall AFB FamCam Rv park, just 19 miles away.
The RV park was nice, but our first two days included a very loud PA system playing Reveille at 7am, then Retreat followed by Taps at 8pm. Luckily the system experienced a tech glitch, and that was the last time we heard it.
They RV park was surrounded by water, but none of it was accessible. We took the cats to Panama City Beach where Doran spent a terrified hour looking for cover. He calmed after a while, but the open expanse, and the sound of the ocean was just too much for him. Nandi just explored and enjoyed the sun and sand as usual. Panama City was nice but a tourist trap. No place to really relax, and it was too cold to hang on the beach. We drove the strip and explored the area, but it’s mostly sand and grasses. A lot of the coast area is mangrove swampy spaces with no beach.
