Here, There & Everywhere

Key West

01-02-2025 to 01-03-2025

Key West was a 3 hour drive from Schneblys where we left our RV. When you first get to the Keys you enter Key Largo. As you drive through the Keys there are long stretches of just road with water on both sides, the longest is 7 miles long. There are towns interspersed along the way. The vibe is old beach town funk. Because there is only one road, traffic can be amazingly bad.

We spent a day walking and exploring Key West, the most popular destination of all the Keys. It is a fun place to walk around and has many interesting sights and has quite a night life. Roosters are roaming around everywhere. It is a typical tourist area, much like New Orleans.

We had some tasty fish and chips made with Mahi Mahi and great entertainment at Sloppy Joes then walked through town that night.

The next day we stopped at a beach and took the kitties out to explore by the ocean. They had fun climbing trees and watching the birds. Before we went out to the Keys, we were told we would get Keys Disease….the desire to live there. We did not get that. Everywhere is crowded and overly touristy. It was definitely worth going to visit, once. If you had beaucoup bucks and could spend your time in the boating community, that’s a different story.
