We took two days to drive to Savannah and overnighted in nice rest areas. We stayed on Tybee Island just a few miles east of Savannah.
Savannah is an interesting city with many little parks all throughout. There are separate districts, including the Victorian District which has many beautifully restored buildings. Savannah is known for Spanish Moss which is found everywhere.
Down near the Harbor is a tourist area with shops and restaurants. A tour of the Harbor is available on the Georgia Queen paddle wheel boat. We did not do that tour, but did walk all along the harbor.
While spending time in Savannah we ate local food at a couple of different restaurants. Must say the food is yummy. We were told there are three things you must try when in Savannah: Shrimp & Grits, Fried Green Tomatoes, and Pralines, which we had for our 13th anniversary dinner.
