During our first visit to the Visitor’s Center, we found out they were giving out commemorative pins celebrating 50 years. They gave out bronze, silver and gold pins for completing certain trails, which we went out and did.
Our first venture into Big Thicket was a 12 mile bike ride on an old logging road. Mostly well maintained, some areas were rooted up by wild pigs and was a bit bumpy.
Next we were off to Kirby Trail. It traversed multiple Biomes. The entire park is based on this area having many varying species, animal and plant, not often found near each other.
Finally we went to visit the local bog, which has a large field of Pitcher plants. These are carnivorous plants.
