Grand Junction is a place of opposing terrain. To oneside, Dry Cliffs reaching high as a tidal wave frozen in place and miles long. The hwy runs at its very foot. The other side is Mesa Plateau edges crumbling from hundreds of feet in the air, leaving skyscraper spires throughout the valleys. You have a sense of tremendous age, while bldg sized boulders perch at the edges, trying to crash down into the city below.
We stayed in two State Parks, one on each edge of the Grand Junction Metro area. The eastern side had the city of Palisade. We hiked its nearby namesake ridge, and hand picked Colorados famous Palisade peaches. We also visted the Grand Mesa. At the other State Park, we biked the Colorado River, and drove through the Colorado Ntl Monument. See the related posts for amazing photos.
