Ilwaco is a small town in southwest WA right on the ocean at the mouth of the Columbia River. We stayed at the Eagles Nest RV Resort. They offer a true deep forest, full hookups experience. We moved from our first site after one night in the dark forest…as in we had to have all of our lights on in the middle of a sunny day. They also offer nice full sun sites, which we moved to – next to a gazebo.
We made a trip to Astoria OR, just across the Astoria-Megler Bridge — the longest continuous truss bridge in North America. We visited and climbed the Astoria Column. It was 164 steps up the spiral staircase. We had several pauses. We also went to Cape Disappointment and took a short trail out to the Southern Lighthouse. Picture 38 could be mistaken for a desert post apocalyptic scene. It’s actually 9:30pm just after sunset on the beach.
