At long last Martha’s dream of “seeing” the cherry blossoms in DC. Two missed attempts over the years, but this time we planted two weeks early and hit it big. The show was impressive.
We stayed at Aquia Pines Camp Resort. It’s tucked in between two major roads, yet retains its feel of remote woods by twisting in on itself and having the lots isolated by medium trees. We got lost just trying to find our site. On site is the Wild Run Brewery, run by the park owner. Martha sampled several and chose a nice Cherry Cream Ale.
We drove into DC at first, then resorted to the metro once we knew the area. We saw all the expected sites and monuments and we visited a warehouse turned marketplace that Martha’s daughter worked in years ago as a barista.
We did a freezing cold day trip to Annapolis MD. Looked like a great town to walk through (when warm). We played disc golf on an unusually hard course. It moved across a ravine, with one hole that you had to toss your disc off a cliff, to a basket almost directly below you out of sight. We did the usual living stuff, and made use of our brand new pullman loaf pan.
